Stephen A. Lin, M.D.

Dr. Stephen Lin is a board certified ophthalmologist who first joined Central Valley Eye in 1996.  Dr. Lin was raised in Manteca where his father was one of the first specialist physicians serving the community for over 30 years.  After graduating as Manteca High's valedictorian, Dr. Lin attended Wheaton College in Illinois receiving Summa Cum Laude honors.  He then chose to attend medical school at University of California, San Diego receiving recognition for outstanding research before subsequently receiving his ophthalmology training at Stanford University where he also completed a fellowship in glaucoma.  He currently serves on the clinical faculty at Stanford Medical Center as an assistant professor, utilizing his experience and expertise in instructing young physicians in ophthalmic surgery.    

Dr. Lin is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and member of the American Glaucoma Society, The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, The American Medical Association and the San Joaquin Medical Society.  His professional interests include small incision cataract surgery, glaucoma management and refractive surgery including LASIK and premium intraocular lens technology. 

As a partner at Central Valley Eye, Dr. Lin believes in "providing compassionate, personalized patient care while always striving to achieve the best treatment and surgical outcomes by mastering the latest techniques in modern ophthalmology."


Stevens Y. Kim, M.D.

Stevens Y. Kim, M.D. was born and raised in Palo Alto, California. He attended Stanford University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree and Doctor of Medicine.  He served as the Chief Resident in Ophthalmology where he was a Fellow in Vitreoretinal Diseases. Dr. Kim joined Central Valley Eye Medical Group in 1996. He specializes in modern suture-less cataract surgery and the treatment of retinal diseases, especially those affecting diabetics and the elderly.  

Most recently, Dr. Kim has broadened his practice to include premium lens technology and cosmetic surgery of the eye lids. He is proud to offer Juvederm and Botox for those wanting a more youthful appearance. Dr. Kim is available for routine eye care and surgical consultations in Stockton, Manteca and now in Modesto. He continues to serve on the clinical faculty at Stanford University, working at the VA hospital once a month. 
 
Dr. Kim is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, American Medical Association, California Medical Association and the San Joaquin Medical Society.   Dr. Kim and his wife Blaire have been married for twenty years and have 3 children. Dr. Kim is a die-hard San Francisco Giants fan and enjoys spending time with his family.

Victoria J. Hsu, M.D.

Dr. Hsu was born in Taiwan and was raised in Michigan, Kansas, and California. She attended UC Berkeley for her undergraduate studies in Molecular and Cell Biology and Religious Studies. She then attended Loma Linda University Medical School and completed her residency there in ophthalmology. Dr. Hsu is board-certified in Ophthalmology, and is currently completing her fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at the James Hall Eye Center at Scottish Rite under the direction of Dr. Zane Pollard. She will be serving both pediatric and adult patients.

On her free time, Dr. Hsu enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, rollerblading, and crocheting. Her personal interests include overseas humanitarian trips and increasing access to health care for the underprivileged.

Shelley Wu, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Shelley Wu works at Central Valley Eye Medical Group as a senior Optometrist. She has nine years of experience in the field of primary eye care, including general, and specialty contact lens care, among others. She developed an interest in the study of ocular pathology during her undergraduate study of neuroscience, specifically the subject of ocular biochemical pathways.

Dr. Wu received a B.S. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, and subsequently completed her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry. She completed her residency at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, followed by a one year fellowship program in Cornea/Contact Lens at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. 

Upon completing her fellowship training, Dr. Wu returned to the Bay Area and joined Central Valley Eye Medical Group in 2004. Dr. Wu is certified by the California State Board of Optometry, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. 

In addition, Dr. Wu has published in peer reviewed journals, and has co-authored a book chapter on aging of the anterior segment. 
 
Dr. Wu served on the Alameda/Contra Costa Counties Optometric Society board from 2003 – 2008. In 2007, she received the California Optometry Association Young Optometrist of the year award. In her free time, Dr. Wu enjoys traveling, & skiing.


Thanh T. Trinh, O.D.

Dr. Trinh completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis where she received a Bachelor of Sciences in Biological Science and Psychology in 2005.  She continued her studies and received her Doctorate in Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California in 2009.  Her externship experiences included providing eye care to active military personnel as well as veterans in Southern California and working at an ophthalmology practice in Sacramento.  Dr. Trinh has been trained to evaluate ocular disease such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, uveitis, and conjunctivitis in various age groups from pediatrics to the elderly.  She also has experience in fitting various types of contact lenses including toric, monovision and multifocal designs.

Dr. Trinh recently moved back to her hometown of Elk Grove, CA. When not practicing optometry, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and is especially thrilled with her new role as a mom.


Crystal Chen, O.D.

Dr. Chen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, San Diego, and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Ohio State University. She completed her externship training at the Veterans’ Administration Medical Center in West Virginia. 

Prior to joining the Central Valley Eye Medical Group, Dr. Chen worked as an optometrist in different settings, including laser eye surgery centers in Southern California and private practices in the Bay Area. In addition to caring for her patients here, Dr. Chen is committed to bringing the gift of sight to developing countries and has volunteered her optometric services during multiple medical mission trips to East Asia. Seeing the need of training qualified medical professionals in East Asia, Dr. Chen spent two years overseas, serving an academic appointment at Peking University Medical School in Beijing, China, to teach ophthalmic optics to ophthalmology residents. 
 
As a therapeutic certified optometrist, Dr. Chen provides her patients with comprehensive eye exams and has a particular interest in fitting specialty contact lenses for patients with keratoconus, pellucid degeneration, traumatic eye damage, corneal transplants or certain types of irregular corneas.
 
Dr. Chen was born in Taiwan and grew up in Livermore, California. She is fluent in Mandarin and Taiwanese.  As an accomplished classical violinist in high school, she performed as a soloist with Livermore-Amador Symphony. Nowadays, you can probably find her playing violin at weddings. She and her husband Mike enjoy serving in their church and within their community, which they value greatly.
